Carmen Guerrero is neither a student nor faculty member, but that hasn’t stopped her from being notably active in disruptive protests on UPenn campus. Over the past year, she has been a fixture on campus and across Philadelphia, positioning herself as a recognizable figure in local activism circles. Her involvement in these events has frequently placed her at the forefront of politically charged gatherings and often times she has led the protestors in antisemitic chants aligned with the views of Hamas.
Endorsement of Controversial Symbolism
One prominent instance of her involvement was at the UPenn encampment in April-May 2024, where she openly endorsed contentious and controversial symbols. She displayed symbols such as the inverted triangle, which has associations with US designated terrorist organization Hamas. This endorsement, marked by the use of these symbols, has drawn attention and scrutiny due to its alignment with ideologies often linked to extremism.
Leadership in Provocative Rhetoric
Carmen has also been a prominent voice at rallies, frequently leading chants that include inflammatory rhetoric. At these events, there have been documented instances where calls for violence and the use of extreme language, including advocating ethnic cleansing and genocide against Jews, have been recorded. Her leadership in these chants has placed her in a contentious light, with many viewing her involvement as an escalation of divisive and harmful narratives.
What’s worse is that she often brings along with her an infant in a stroller, giving him a head start into the world extremism and hate.
