Rudy Martinez

Rudy Martinez is a radical anti-Israel activist with a history of supporting terrorism, spreading anti-Semitic rhetoric, and engaging in unlawful protests that have led to his arrest. A former student at the CUNY Graduate Center, Martinez has actively participated in pro-Hamas demonstrations, violent disruptions, and public endorsements of terror groups, including Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)—both of which are designated terrorist organizations by the United States.

Rudy Martinez’s Arrest and Role in Anti-Israel Encampment

On April 30, 2024, Martinez was arrested during the CUNY Gaza Solidarity Encampment at City College of New York (CCNY). As one of the so-called “CUNY 8”, Martinez was charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass, and possession of burglar’s tools, among other offenses. Protesters caused an estimated $3 million in damage and attacked law enforcement officers.

Martinez remained unapologetic, stating:

“I have zero regrets. I would do everything the same with the same people.”

The CUNY 8 were not CCNY students but rather outside agitators determined to escalate anti-Israel activism on U.S. campuses.

Pro-Terrorism and Anti-Semitic Rhetoric

Martinez has openly praised Hamas terrorists and their attacks against Israeli civilians. On December 23, 2023, at a New York City protest, Martinez:

  • Called the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre—which killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped over 200 hostages

“One of the greatest days of my life.”

  • Chanted “Hamas and long live the resistance!”, endorsing Hamas’s ongoing attacks on civilians.
  • Wore a PFLP pin and an earring shaped like an assault rifle, signaling allegiance to terrorist groups.

Martinez has also equated Israel to Nazi Germany, a classic form of anti-Semitism according to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition adopted by the U.S. State Department.

Participation in Anti-Israel and Anti-Semitic Disruptions

Martinez has a long track record of engaging in violent and illegal anti-Israel activism, including:

  • January 1, 2024 – Participated in the “Flood JFK for Gaza” protest, organized by the pro-terrorist group Within Our Lifetime (WOL). Protesters blocked access to John F. Kennedy International Airport, displayed Hamas flags, and chanted “Intifada,” a call for violent uprisings against Jews.
  • January 8, 2024 – Helped block three bridges and a tunnel during the “Shut It Down for Palestine” demonstration, causing citywide disruptions.
  • February 10, 2024 – Appeared in a video supporting the CUNY encampment, justifying Hamas’s terror attacks as necessary pressure against Israel and the U.S.

Academic and Professional Background

Martinez has a history of involvement in academia, but his focus has been on radical activism:

  • CUNY Graduate Center – Master’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies (2022).
  • John Jay College of Criminal Justice – Advanced certificate in Terrorism Studies (2023).
  • Texas State University – Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (2018).
  • Staff Member at Guttman Community College (CUNY) – Reported by The New York Post in 2024.
  • Co-founder of Sybil Journal – An outlet reflecting his political activism.

An Absolute Menace to Society

Rudy Martinez is a radical anti-Israel agitator who has endorsed terrorist violence, glorified Hamas, and engaged in illegal demonstrations that harmed civilians and law enforcement. His activism aligns with anti-Semitic movements that seek the destruction of Israel, and his record of incitement and criminal behavior makes him a key figure in the extremist anti-Israel movement in the U.S.
