Before October 7th, Sumaita Mulk was a promising law student at Columbia University, but her personality would soon make a turn for the worse. Being inspired by the atrocities of terror organization Hamas, she has since delved into the world of antisemitic activism, calling for more terror attacks and the complete destruction of Israel, a Us ally country.  

Actions and Statement 

In the last year, she has been exposed as being an active member or affiliated with BDS, CLSP, CUAD, JVP and SJP. 

This past December, Mulk was quoted in an article as a CUAD spokesperson, which solidified her path aligning with the likes of Hamas. However, what was even more concerning was a Tweet in which she stated, “JOIN UP @wolpalestine @sjp.columbia @jvp.columbia RESISTANCE IS JUSTIFIED WHEN PEOPLE ARE OCCUPIED.” The Instagram post’s video showed activists at a local anti-Israel march chanting [00:00:31]: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!”. 

This statement is directly linked with Hamas and is calling for the complete destruction of the state of Israel. How a student at Columbia University can use this language so openly, she be a concern to anyone standing with democracy.  

Conclusion 

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and most of the western world. Having a student like Sumaita Mulk align herself with their views and beliefs and study at one of America’s most prestigious universities should be deemed a safety risk to other students and professors on campus.
